About Chemistry Department


Department of Chemistry aspire to values of highest professional and academic standards to staff and students with a focus on quality teaching and research in the major areas of agrochemicals and chemistry. Department presently conducts PG programs in M.Sc. (Chemistry), M.Sc. Ag (Agricultural Chemicals), Ph.D. Chemistry, Ph.D. (Agricultural Chemicals). In addition to post graduate teaching and research, department also teach the courses of chemistry to students of college of Agriculture, Home Science and Technology. Presently department has two Assistant Professors, five Professors and one Junior Research Officer under AICRP. Since decades, department has availed substantial funding from DRDO, UGC, DBT, DST, Ministry of Environment and Forest, Uttarakhand Council of Science and Technology, private organizations and also honoured with funding from DST-FIST. Department is equipped with analytical facilities for smooth conduction of fundamental and applied research. Department has collaborations with various national institutes and universities for multidisciplinary research. Department has established the worth of dissemination of research through quality publications, patents and believes in teamwork with trust, integrity and innovation for the academic growth of students.

Mission:

1. To translate the education through academic rigour, practical orientation, outcome based teaching and research.

2. To train the students for befitting technologies in chemical industries addressing local, national and global challenges.

Department has well functioning laboratories for research in the areas of phytochemistry, food chemistry, residue chemistry, plant microbiology and synthetic chemistry, material science and bioinorganic chemistry.

Waters 600 HPLC with PDA & RI detector (Semi preparative), Dionex HPLC with UV detector, Gas Chromatographs Chemito Model SRD-3200 , Gel Permeation chromatograph Varian Pro Star Netherlands, Electro Chemical Work Station, IVIUM Netherlands , FT-IR spectrophotometer, Bruker Alpha II , Supercritical Processing Reactor, Melton Roy USA, Luminometer, Bio Tech Instruments, Four Probe Conductivity Meter Keithley, UK, Photochemical Reactor Luz Chem Canada , UV-Vis Spectrophotometers: G-10, Thermospectronic, USA (Three Nos), Thermofisher, Evolution 201 (One No), Ultrasonicator VCX 500 , Muffle furnace (1450 Deg C), Carbon Dioxide Incubator New Brunswick.
